Our Story

In the early 1990s, an Indigenous Mayan community in the highlands of Chiapas began a collective spiritual journey rooted in remembrance, meaning, and belonging. Rather than departing from their heritage, this path became a way of returning - reuniting inner life with land, language, and community values.

Over time, the need emerged for a shared space where spiritual life could be lived without fragmentation—where learning, culture, service, and contemplation could exist as one. From this intention, Casa Umar was established fifteen years ago as a place of gathering, renewal, and continuity.

Casa Umar exists to nurture spiritual growth while honoring cultural identity, creating an environment where traditions are not separated but woven together. The community here is guided by the understanding that wisdom is holistic, and that identity is strengthened through inclusion, care, and shared responsibility.

Today, Casa Umar serves as a living community hub, home to a learning environment, a healing garden, food and livelihood projects, and spaces for reflection and gathering. It is a place where education, nourishment, and spiritual life flow together naturally.
